THE MOGADISHU MILE:
AN ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO COMMITTED EXCELLENCE

 Year 1: October 2, 2021

Mogadishu Mile 2021: Honoring Heroes, Embracing Legacy

On October 2, 2021, Queenslake Horse Farm launched the inaugural Mogadishu Mile, thrilled to halt our horse farm operations for a day to honor the 19 soldiers lost in the Battle of Mogadishu. Benefitting Kentucky Wounded Heroes, we hosted 12 four-man teams on our 1-mile lake loop and wooded trails, with five challenging obstacles.

Queenslake built a custom start/finish gate—used every year since—and laid asphalt millings around the lake for a smoother run.

Queenslake recruited these sponsors: Bourbon 30 (now J. Mattingly 1845), Texas Roadhouse, Starbucks Coffee, 418 Communications, and Hamilton-Hinkle Paving Company joining early efforts. Queenslake provided the facility, landscaping, excavation, tables, chairs, staging, PR, promotional materials, printing, signage, setup, and tear-down.

It was Queenslake’s first step in a legacy of grit and gratitude, born on our farm.
